Ian Birch is a freelance internet and magazine journalist, webmaster and blogger, and has experience in radio/TV and print/online journalism, website design, photography and recording speeches and concerts using the latest digital technology. He has worked for the BBC (Radio 4 and local), several ILRs (commerical radio stations), many professional RSLs (Restricted Service Licence radio stations), been news editor of three stations and acting editor at another, done cable television as a presenter/newsreader and VT operator, magazines, newspapers, websites, newsletters, talking magazines and publications and much more. He has lots of theatrical sound and lighting experience too. He's performed on national TV and radio and toured as a musician and he's a proofreader and been a sub editor.
He also does voluntary/charity work which has included, over the years, hospital and community radio (including request collecting on the wards), working with people with mental health problems and being on the executive committee of a local charity for people with disabilities. He writes free of charge for local and national charity magazines and newsletters, is on the editorial team of a national charity's magazine and is a press officer for a local disability support group. He also blogs and updates website features on welfare benefits, mental health and disabilities and reviews cafes and restaurants.
